Exploring the World of Tools and Measurements

Welcome to the exciting world of STEM! 

In this hands-on workshop, participants will dive into the fundamentals of measurement using various tools. Led by our expert instructor, Clifford Prince, participants will learn how to accurately measure different quantities such as length, mass, temperature, time, and more using standard and advanced measurement instruments. Through engaging activities and interactive demonstrations, participants will gain practical skills in recording measurements, identifying & minimizing sources of errors and analyzing the data collected, setting the foundation for future scientific exploration.

About Expert:

Clifford Prince uses everyday events to explain the scientific phenomenon behind them which makes it easy for anyone to relate to. He is currently a research scholar at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ISRO.

Workshop Flow:

Introduction to Measurement

Hands-On Measurement Activities:

Participants will engage in hands-on activities to measure length, mass, temperature, time, and more using simple tools such as rulers, measuring tape, callipers, thermometers, and stopwatches.

Explore principles of measurement accuracy and precision through practical demonstrations.

Tech Talk: Advanced Measuring Instruments:

Our expert instructor will provide a tech talk on advanced measuring instruments including seismometers, GPS devices, anemometers, hygrometers, rangefinders, barometers, and pressure gauges.

Discuss the principles behind each instrument and their real-world applications.

Activity 1: Explore surface area and volume calculation concepts in interior design.

Activity 2: Measure Volume and Density of Irregular Objects

Data Collection and Analysis:

Participants will record their measurements and observations, emphasizing the importance of accurate data collection in scientific inquiry.
