About Your Expert:

With a three-decade legacy, Mohd Hammad Farooqui, has made a mark in theater, education, and literature. His influential years at The Doon School included leading the Creative Writing & Research Centre, shaping academic frameworks, and mentoring students in various disciplines. Currently, he guides theatre workshops at TonsBridge and teaches Critical Thinking and Creative Writing at The Doon School.

Introduction to Woodworking

The Design Workshop, led by skilled designers Joshua and Richa, provided participants with an immersive introduction to the world of woodworking. Against the picturesque backdrop of Kairwan Gaon’s riverside, children embarked on a hands-on journey of creativity and craftsmanship, discovering the magic hidden within the grains of wood.

 

Workshop Experience:

 

Mastering Basic Skills: Participants delved into the fundamentals of woodworking, mastering basic tools and techniques under the expert guidance of Joshua and Richa. From sawing to drilling, children learned to shape raw wood with precision and finesse.

Exploring Wood Types: The workshop offered participants insights into different wood types, their characteristics, and suitable applications. Through interactive demonstrations, children gained a deeper understanding of the unique properties of each wood species.

Hands-on Creations: Empty frames were transformed into endless possibilities as young builders infused timber frames with creatively shaped wooden blocks. Each piece bore the mark of unique imagination and skilled craftsmanship, showcasing the joy found in woodworking.

Project-based Learning: From Texture Boards to imaginative projects, participants explored the art of woodworking through project-based learning. Guided by Joshua and Richa, children learned to translate their ideas into tangible creations, fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Welcome to the next instalment in our STEM Workshop series! 

In this workshop, participants will dive deeper into the realm of measurement and tools, focusing on chemistry and earth sciences. Led by our expert instructors, participants will explore how various instruments are used to measure pH, wind speed, atmospheric humidity, location on Earth, earthquake activity, pressure, frequency, and distance. Through a combination of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and discussions, participants will develop a deeper understanding of these concepts and their real-world applications.

Provide an overview of the workshop objectives and the significance of measurement in chemistry and earth sciences.

Participants will engage in hands-on activities to measure pH using pH paper, wind speed using an anemometer, atmospheric humidity using a hygrometer, and location on Earth using a GPS device.
