After a thrilling and inspiring workshop at The Doon School, EarthLab Club is delighted to welcome back Ansh Kumar—globally recognized creative technologist and lead artist for Young Creators Programme 2025 – The Yaksha.

In this 4-day immersive Visual Design Workshop, children will learn to turn spaces into stories using projection mapping, sensors, and creative technology. They’ll explore how light, sound, and motion come together to transform walls, objects, and environments into magical, responsive installations.

Through real-time demos, group collaborations, and guided experimentation, young creators will:

Meet the Mentor: Ansh Kumar

Ansh Kumar artistAnsh Kumar is an artist and creative technologist who merges art, light, and architecture. His interactive installations have lit up global stages like Miami Art Basel, Ars Electronica, and the India Art Fair. He’s worked with Meta, Adobe, and Snapchat, and is the co-founder of Tiny Farm Lab in Rishikesh—a handmade, off-grid art residency that looks like it stepped out of a dream.

Ansh’s workshops are spaces for bold imagination, radical play, and mindful making—designed to help kids express, build, and collaborate.

The Yaksha is an immersive creation space, not a structured academic bootcamp. It’s designed as a co-creation lab where each participant is an inventor, an artist, a coder, and a storyteller. The experience prioritizes imagination, voice, and originality—making it a truly transformative programme for children who want to build something meaningful, and not just consume content. Mohd Hammad Farooqui – Story Mentor: Narrative Building


 Mohd Hammad Farooqui is an experienced educator, director, and literary critic with over 30 years of experience teaching literature and theatre at The Doon School and currently heads the Critical Thinking and Writing Centre there. Having directed more than 195 plays, he has been honoured with accolades such as Best Director in Uttar Pradesh and Best Hindi Teacher by the Government of Uttarakhand. He has mentored numerous students who have gone on to become well-known in their fields, having taught them the art of theatre and storytelling with unmatched passion.

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme, he as mentor will be guiding students in the process of narrative development by helping children build their own worlds, develop story arcs, and understand symbolism in environmental storytelling.

Ansh Kumar – Lead Artist: Installation & Light Design


 Ansh Kumar is an award-winning contemporary artist, educator, and creative force who blends space, media, and emerging technologies like augmented reality to craft immersive, thought-provoking experiences. As a creative technologist and experiential designer, his work sits at the crossroads of art, technology, and social connection. He is also the co-founder of Tiny Farm Lab in Rishikesh, a hand-sculpted mud house created with the help of 100 volunteers from over 18 countries, that looks straight out of a fairytale. Ansh has showcased his work at Miami Art Basel, Ars Electronica, and the India Art Fair, and has collaborated with leading global platforms like Adobe, Meta, and Snapchat.

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme, he as mentor will be helping children conceptualize, understand visual effects, and build interactive room installations using projection mapping and responsive design.

Pratiksha Chauhan – Experience Curator: Design & Brand Story

Pratiksha is a visual artist and Creative Director focused on sensory storytelling and visual branding. A NIFT graduate, she has over 11 years of experience working with brands like Myntra, Culture Machine, and VICE Media, where she has conceptualised and created IPs in music, culture, and lifestyle. She has collaborated with international brands such as Vice News, Budweiser, Adidas, and Johnny Walker which showcase her global design appeal and innovative approach to design communication.

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme, she as mentor will be leading moodboarding, setting the aesthetics and tone, suggesting costumes, and working on branding details with the kids.

Yash Nath Jha – Music Mentor: Soundscapes & River Songs

Yash Nath Jha’s musical journey garners global recognition and prestigious collaborations. A top 5 nominee in the Recording Academy’s Music Cares competition, he’s performed with Grammy-winning conductor Kevin Fox. Yash received acclaim, including a certificate from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music for his piano recital at the Delhi School of Music. As the creative force behind ‘When I’m Human,’ he blends cinematic richness with industrial sounds, showcased through collaborations with labels like Qilla Records and artists like Maestro Balázs Fülei.

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme, he as mentor will be helping kids compose original sonic elements using digital tools and natural recordings. He will also be designing the ambient and narrative sound journey of the entire experience.

Prashant Nawani – Creative Facilitator: Lyrical Expression

A writer, poet, and musician from Dehradun, Prashant Nawani’s work spans philosophical fiction and experimental music. His debut novel—a reflective exploration of his studies in German literature and philosophy at JNU and the University of Konstanz—is currently being edited. As lyricist and vocalist for the rock trio Rivermind and the alt-electronic duo ‘She Makes Perfumes’, he fuses poetic lyricism with dynamic soundscapes. His creative pursuits also include a classical fusion guitar solo act and a collection of abstract nature photography. 

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme, he as mentor will be facilitating lyrical writing sessions, helping kids reflect emotions during the programme and will be supporting music-led storytelling and poetic exploration.

Sai Krishna Mulpuru – Tech Mentor: Coding & IoT Integration

Sai K. Mulpuru is a multidisciplinary innovator, educator, and designer with a rich background in interaction design, user experience design (UED), IoT, robotics, augmented reality, application development, and educational consulting. He has facilitated several workshops at top colleges and art fairs. During his time with Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, Sai was part of the project titled Think Tank, which featured brain-controlled rain installations. He is dedicated to making STEM engaging, humane, and deeply impactful. He is currently teaching innovative design at UPES and has previously taught at institutions like Srishti Design School and Ashoka University.

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme,  Sai serves as an overall guide/mentor to the project.

Naved Farooqui – Media Mentor: Audio Storytelling & Podcast Creation

Naved Farooqui is a media strategist, educator, and business expert with over 13 years of experience in media, storytelling, and youth engagement. He has worked extensively in digital publishing, communication, and content innovation, and has led creative campaigns and projects that bridge culture, community, and education.

In The Yaksha, EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme, he as mentor will be guiding children in podcast creation, story mapping, and understanding how sound can shape narrative and mood..

 Not sure how The Yaksha works? Don’t worry. We’ve compiled answers to all the FAQ’s to help you understand what makes this summer programme unlike any other.

If you have further questions or require more information, feel free to reach out to our team. We’re here to ensure that both parents and students have a clear understanding of what Earthlab Club Young Creator’s Summer Programme 2025- The Yaksha offers and how it can benefit every young learner.

 

What are the dates and timings of the programme?

 The programme runs from 5th June to the 21st June, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, including Sundays.

Where will the programme take place?

 All activities will be held at the EarthLab Club Studio, Shivam Vihar, Jakhan, Dehradun.

Who can join the programme?

Children aged 7–17 years can join. Participants will be divided into small age-based cohorts to ensure age-appropriate engagement and mentoring.

 How many students per batch?

We cap participation to 30 children only, divided into:

  • 7–9 years: 6 participants
  • 10–14 years: 14 participants
  • 15–17 years: 10 participants
  What is the theme of this year’s programme?

This year’s theme is “The Yaksha: Myth, Memory, and the Future of Nature”, combining storytelling, environmental awareness, and immersive technology.

What will the children be creating? 

An interactive, tech-driven storytelling installation inspired by the mythical Yaksha of Bandarpunch and the Last Keepers of Tons—featuring sound, light, movement, and narrative.

Can my child join just one module?

Yes! You can enroll your child in a standalone module (Storytelling, Visual, Tech, or Music/Media). However, only full-programme participants will be part of the Set Design Lab and immersive exhibition build.

Is any prior experience required to join? 

None. The programme is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for all children.

What’s so different about this programme?

Unlike routine hobby classes, The Yaksha is an original, immersive EarthLab creation—where myth meets motion, creativity meets cause, and every child finds their thread in a larger story. It’s not about making projects. It’s about discovering purpose.

Is this more like a summer camp or a course?

It’s neither—and both. It blends the freedom and fun of summer with the depth and direction of a creative lab. Think of it as a purposeful adventure—part workshop, part quest, and entirely unforgettable.

What safety protocols will be followed? 

The venue is child-safe and fully supervised. All tools are age-appropriate. First aid is available on-site.

What happens after the programme ends?

 The installation will remain open for public viewing for two weeks—inviting families, schools, and visitors to experience what the children have created.

Can children from outside Dehradun join the programme?

Yes, absolutely! The Yaksha is open to students from all across India. We welcome young creators from different cities and cultures to be part of this unique experience.

Can stay arrangements be made for people coming from outside of Dehradun?

If there are a group of students or families traveling from outside Dehradun, EarthLab Club will help coordinate safe and convenient accommodation options in nearby guesthouses or homestays. Please note that the cost of accommodation is not included in the programme fee.

Will transport be provided for students?

If there are enough participants coming from a particular place or school group, we can assist in coordinating shared transport. Transport charges, however, will be separate from the programme fee and discussed case-by-case.

Are accommodation and transport included in the fee?

No, the standard programme pricing excludes travel, stay, and food unless explicitly mentioned. However, our team is happy to support parents with recommendations and logistical help.

Are meals provided during the programme?

While EarthLab Club does not serve meals as part of the programme, there is a designated space and ample time provided for lunch. We offer storage and heating facilities for home-packed meals. Children get an hour-long break in the middle of the day for lunch and rest.

What will my child learn?

Through a blend of art, storytelling, tech, and design, they will learn:

  • Basics of coding and IoT
  • Light and sound design
  • Installation art and spatial storytelling
  • Myth-based narrative creation
  • Music production and soundscapes
  • Environmental consciousness and regenerative thinking
Will my child be overwhelmed or lost in a creative/tech programme like this?

Not at all. Each child is guided through age-appropriate activities. The emphasis is on curiosity, collaboration, and joy—not pressure or perfection. We create a supportive environment where all voices matter, and where trying something new is celebrated.

What if my child is shy or introverted?

We work in small groups, and our mentors are trained to help every child find their pace and space. Many of our most thoughtful contributors have been quiet observers who surprised even their parents with what they created.

Who are the mentors?

Our mentors include installers, storytellers, engineers, musicians, and designers with global experience. Each brings hands-on guidance to help children build original projects.

What is the student-to-mentor ratio?

To ensure meaningful guidance and hands-on mentorship, we maintain a low student-to-mentor ratio. Each small group works directly with a mentor, receiving personal attention and support.

How does the wide age group (7–17) work out?

Participants are grouped into small, age-based cohorts, each exploring ideas at a level suited to their stage of development. While each group tackles different complexities and creation challenges, the overall experience is deeply collaborative. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone contributes—and learns not just from mentors, but from each other.

Is there a dress code?

There’s no strict dress code, but we recommend comfortable clothing that allows for movement and creative mess!

Welcome to EarthLab Club’s Young Creators Summer Programme 2025

At The Yaksha, your child doesn’t just learn—they build, invent, question, and create.

Inspired by the mythical guardians of the natural world, this 15-day young creator’s summer programme invites students aged 7 to 17 to imagine and design a world where rivers whisper, forests respond, and every sound tells a story. Together, we’ll bring to life an interactive exhibit powered by light, sound, tech, and narrative—designed by the kids themselves.

 

Programme Breakdown: Modules of Imagination

The Yaksha, Earthlab Club’s young creator’s summer programme is designed as four focused, skill-building modules—each led by field experts—woven into the larger world-building experience. Alongside these, the Set Design Lab runs throughout the programme and is exclusive to full-programme participants.

 

STORYTELLING LAB 

Led by Mohd Hammad Farooqui
Build the myth. In this 2-day lab, participants create the characters, conflicts, and questions at the heart of The Yaksha. Drawing from folklore and nature, children shape the emotional and ethical spine of the entire experience.

DESIGN LAB 

Led by Ansh Kumar
Light meets imagination. Through projection mapping and interactive art, children transform surfaces into living stories. They explore tools like TouchDesigner, sensors, and conductive materials to bring their designs to life. Group installations blend space, sound, and movement.

TECH LAB 

Led by Ansh Kumar | Mentored by Sai Krishna
Where myth becomes machine. Participants design responsive, tech-driven elements—forests that speak, rivers that remember, systems that sense. Using sensors, sound, and movement, they build environmental stories that react to the world around them.

SOUND LAB

Led by Yash Nath Jha, Prashant Nawani & mentored by Naved Farooqui
Craft the sound of the story. Children build immersive soundscapes using loops, lyrics, rhythms, and ambient recordings. They score emotions, compose songs, and shape the sonic identity of The Yaksha—from whispers in the forest to the roar of forgotten gods.

SET DESIGN LAB 

Led by Pratiksha Chauhan
The integrative core. Over 15 days, participants design and build The Yaksha’s immersive environment—combining story, tech, visuals, and sound. Think kinetic sculptures, elemental zones, and interactive spaces that breathe with the narrative.

 

A World They Can Step Into

The final exhibit is designed like a real-life educational escape room where each participant is given a “Yaksha Card” and completes elemental quests around Air, Water, and Earth. Unlock stories, earn powers, and build a living world that breathes myth and mirrors our future.

THE DOON SCHOOL   

     The Doon School conducted a 14-day summer camp starting from May 24, 2024, where students learned from expert faculty of The Doon School. The summer camp focused on several disciplines ranging from outdoor adventure, Leadership Styles in the Context of Global Citizenship, Mathventure, Aristocracy of Service & Making Solar Bulbs, Theatre for Joy, Communication is Key, Career Counselling, The Individual and Society, “Ideal” vs “Real”, Sustainability at Doon, CIA (Create, Innovate, and Automate), Musical Rainbow, Marching Forward: The Synergy of AI and Prompt Engineering in Shaping the Future, Detecting Truth and Credibility in the ‘Post-Truth’ Era, and much more. The program, designed for students aged 14–18 years, helped them gain leadership skills, meet like-minded peers, and experience world-class facilities.

THE OASIS DEHRADUN

The Oasis Dehradun organized The Aquatic Camp from May 27 to June 20, 2024. It was a resounding success, culminating in a Presentation Day on June 20 for parents and guests. The primary goal of this summer camp was to celebrate children’s learning journey in swimming. Parents witnessed the strokes, techniques, and water confidence their children developed throughout the camp.

WOODSTOCK SCHOOL

Woodstock School’s summer camp is a transformative, interdisciplinary experience that promotes global exposure and personal growth. Open to students aged 10–18, it offers courses in Leadership, English Masterclass, Model UN, Entrepreneurship, Art for Change, and Artificial Intelligence. Each module is led by experts and encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.

MOUNT FORT ACADEMY

Mount Fort Academy’s Red Voyager Summer Camp (ages 3–14) encouraged teamwork and skill development across diverse disciplines including Pottery/Bamboo Art, Swimming, Basketball, Robotics & 3D Printing, Dance (Classical & Western), Music, Calligraphy, French Language, Art & Craft, Storytelling + PD + Communications, Drama & Theatre, Abacus, and more.

PESTLE WEED SCHOOL

Held from June 1 to June 15 at Pestle Weed School (Mussoorie Diversion Road), this summer camp focused on holistic development. Children chose from activities like horse riding, swimming, taekwondo, yoga, meditation, and more. The camp ran from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with home pick-up and drop-off provided.

MONDRIAN HOUSE

From May 20 to June 20, Mondrian House and Mondrian High hosted a diverse summer camp with creative arts, outdoor activities, and an innovative LEGO Robotics Camp in collaboration with Makers Duniya. This camp was the first of its kind in Dehradun, giving children hands-on experience in coding, building robots, and fostering teamwork.

THE ARYAN SCHOOL

The Aryan School hosted a month-long summer camp starting June 1, filled with sports and skill-building activities like basketball, special swimming classes, gym sessions, badminton, and skating. The day camp catered to two age groups: 4–16 years and 16+ years, blending fun and learning in a structured environment.

SKILL-ED SUMMER CAMP

Skill-ed’s summer camp is packed with activities that ignite curiosity—robotics, painting, dance, swimming, baking, DIY labs, and more. With a balance of learning and play, Skill-ed provides a vibrant, dynamic environment for kids to explore and grow holistically.

EARTHLAB CLUB SUMMER PROGRAMME

In 2024, EarthLab Club launched its very first interactive summer camp, The Young Creators Summer Programme, a future-ready, project-based experience crafted especially for curious minds aged 7–15. The central theme of the programme was Light and Sound, and all activities were curated to help children explore the fascinating art and science behind these elements through immersive, hands-on workshops. The camp began with photography workshops under the Media Club, where students explored the fundamentals of light. They experimented with cyanotype printing, built their own pinhole cameras, understood the camera obscura technique, and learned the basics of  mobile photography, all grounded in the science of light and image-making.

Simultaneously, in the Music Club, students dived into the world of sound by creating their own songs through workshops in vocals, songwriting, sound production, and DJing. These workshops honed their musical skills by helping them understand how sound travels, is manipulated, and produced. In the Media Club, students learned the basics of creating their own podcasts, to deepen their understanding of mass communication and audio storytelling. The Literature Club focused on nurturing the storytelling and creative writing streak in young minds, while under the Design Club, students learned the mask-making process, enabling visual storytelling in children. Under the Science Club, students explored the principles of light, sound, and optics through interactive experiments and activities. The summer programme also included a field trip to the FRI Museum and camping at Rajaji National Park under the Nature Club, reinforcing learning in the natural world through exploration and observation. Every session was guided by industry experts and creative mentors, ensuring that each child was actively engaged in making, experimenting, and creating, not just observing. Earthlab Club Summer Programme 2024

In 2024, EarthLab Club launched its very first interactive summer camp, The Young Creators Summer Programme, a future-ready, project-based experience crafted especially for curious minds aged 7–15. The central theme of the Earthlab Club summer programme was Light and Sound, and all activities were curated to help children explore the fascinating art and science behind these elements through immersive, hands-on workshops. Every session was guided by industry experts and creative mentors, ensuring that each child was actively engaged in making, experimenting, and creating, rather than just passively observing. Earthlab Club summer programme’s aim was to bring out the creator in every child making creation, the heart and soul of the programme. They built, recorded, designed, wrote, and explored under the guidance of expert mentors across music, media, literature, science, and design. Whether it was crafting paper speakers, recording their own podcasts, creating cyanotype prints, or building pinhole cameras,  every activity was rooted in experimentation and imagination. The Earthlab Club summer programme gave young minds a space to explore their ideas with confidence, where thinking differently is encouraged and celebrated. The children didn’t just learn, they made!

THE MEDIA CLUB

The Media Club workshops of Earthlab Club summer programme consisted of several aspects, out of which students explored the fundamentals of light and sound through their photography and podcasting workshop.

 

Photography workshop

Led by Mr. Mrinal Bhakhundi, founder of Atelier Monad and an expert in photographic processes, students explored several aspects of photography, all rooted in the science of light and image-making.

  • Cyanotype Printing: Students used light-sensitive chemicals and sunlight to create striking blue-toned prints, learning about exposure and photographic composition.
  • Pinhole Camera: Using simple materials, students built functional pinhole cameras to understand the basics of optics and how images form.
  • Camera Obscura: Children explored the earliest form of visual projection, witnessing how light bends and reflects to cast real-life images onto a surface.
  • Basics of Mobile Photography: Students learned framing, lighting, and editing techniques using their phones, developing the skills to turn everyday moments into powerful visual stories.

Podcasting workshop

Led by Mr. Naved Farooqui, a media and business expert, the students in the workshop deepened their understanding of mass communication and audio storytelling curated on the central theme of sound. 

  • Podcasting Basics: From scripting to recording and editing, children created their own podcast episodes while learning how sound can inform, entertain, and influence.

THE MUSIC CLUB

The Music Club workshops of Earthlab Club summer programme circled around understanding the science and art of sound through song creation. Guided by seasoned professionals from the band Rivermind, students got hands-on experience in creating their own songs during these workshops in earthlab club summer programme.

Led by Mr. Yash Jha, music producer and performer with over two decades of experience and Mr. Prashant Nawani, the lyricist and vocalist of Rivermind help children get hands-on with creating their own lyrics.

  • Songwriting: Children crafted original lyrics and melodies by combining their personal stories with rhythm and rhyme.
  • Sound Production:  Students explored how beats are layered, tempo adjusted, and software used to mix and master music tracks.

 Mr. Sarthak Uniyal, a leading musician who teaches western vocals to children gave students an immersive experience in training their voice.

  • Vocal Training: Through vocal exercises and techniques, students strengthened their voice control, pitch accuracy, and stage confidence.

Lastly, led by Mr. Bharat or BakFlash, a key figure in Dehradun’s electro music scene encouraged children to get hands-on with creating their own beats, and becoming a DJ.

  • DJing: Children got hands-on with DJ consoles, learning how to blend tracks, beat transitions, and performance-based sound design

THE SCIENCE CLUB

The Science Club workshops in Earthlab Club summer program focused on discovering the physics of light and sound through real-world experiments.

Led by Mr. Clifford Prince, a research scholar from IIRS, the workshop encouraged students to get hands-on as they dived into experiences in light and sound as they learned about Waves.

  • Waves & Optics: Children explored how light and sound travel through waves by building simple instruments and experimenting with lenses and mirrors.

THE LITERATURE CLUB

The Literature Club workshops in Earthlab Club summer programme focused on encouraging students to write and tell stories that connect real-life experiences with imagination.

Guided by Mr. M.H. Farooqui, literary scholar and educator introduced children to the fundamentals of hindi and english storytelling. 

  • Creative Writing:  Students developed original stories and poems by understanding character development, plot structure, poetry writing, literary analysis, and critical thinking.

THE DESIGN CLUB

The Design Club workshops in Earthlab Club summer programme focused on  learning the craft of visual storytelling.

Guided by Mr. Kenny, participants were introduced to the basics material design, idea generation, publications and were encouraged to create their own bionic masks.

  • Mask making: Children designed and constructed bionic masks using craft materials, learning about shapes, symmetry, and visual expression.

 

THE NATURE CLUB

The Nature Club workshops in Earthlab Club summer programme focused on taking learning outdoors, and learning from the locals.

With guidance from Head Naturalist Mr. Ayaz Hakim, students explored  natural wonders with exclusive experiences like forests, museums, and wild spaces.

  • Trip to FRI: Through a guided exploration of the Forest Research Institute, students observed nature’s patterns and learned about sustainable ecosystems.
  • Camping at Rajaji: Children experienced wilderness camping, wildlife tracking, and outdoor survival basics, connecting with nature through real adventure.

The EarthLab Club Summer Programme was curated with the vision to encourage students to create and make learning more hands-on . We provided an activity-oriented learning space where children could play, learn, and experiment under expert guidance. The programme also offered a platform to develop social skills, build lasting friendships, and create a lifetime of memories.

The Design Workshop, led by skilled designers Joshua and Richa, provided participants with an immersive introduction to the world of woodworking. Against the picturesque backdrop of Kairwan Gaon’s riverside, children embarked on a hands-on journey of creativity and craftsmanship, discovering the magic hidden within the grains of wood.

Mastering Basic Skills: Participants delved into the fundamentals of woodworking, mastering basic tools and techniques under the expert guidance of Joshua and Richa. From sawing to drilling, children learned to shape raw wood with precision and finesse.
